Don't break Kansas law, ask your policy-makers in Topeka to change it!
Kansas Medical Cannabis Network | PO Box 22 | Potwin KS 67123 | info@medcankan.org
Most legislators want to hear from their constituents. Because this is a state issue, focus on your state representatives and senators. Start with these lawmakers listed below. Be courteous. Contact them about every six months and develop a respectful relationship with them. Ask them to introduce or sponsor medical cannabis legislation. (They might be more receptive to your message than you think, especially in light of the current economy.) Likewise, contact your representatives in Washington when the medical marijuana question comes up at the national level.

In Topeka

When writing to your policy makers--especially those in Washington--remember that they are by now familiar with the majority of our arguments and statistics. They need to hear our personal stories. Why do you need medical cannabis? How would your quality of life be affected if you had access for medical use? How might your loved ones' lives change?

If you have a medical cannabis story to tell it's always best to tell it yourself if you possibly can---you're the one living it. If you feel you need help in communicating your personal feelings to your representative we can help. Just tell us your story in simple terms and we will gladly edit or ghost-write it and send it back to you so you can check and/or edit it and send it off to your representative in Topeka. For maximum impact, have your loved ones and caregivers sign your letter, too, and include any of your medical workers who are in agreement.

Pre-written messages

There are only two so far, for legislators, but they can be copied and sent with a minumum of changes: just the date and names. Or edit it to fit your situation. We plan to add more letters, as time permits, that may be sent with a minimum of writing or editing by the sender. (We would welcome similar letters from others willing to share their talent.)
