5 Feb 2010: With the introduction this week of House bill 2610, or the Medical Marijuana Act, the issue is heating up. It's time for us to get busy and we haven't long! This legislative session will be over in less than 60 days. It is crucial that everyone with an interest in medical marijuana for Kansas call, write, and otherwise engage your legislators in Topeka--especially those on the Health and Human Services Committee, but all of them are important. Contact them and assure them that this critical issue has broad constituent support!
Click here to go to NORML's legislative action page and send a prewritten message to your representatives.
Medcankan's prewritten message is here. You may copy, paste, add your contact information and send to your legislators to let them know you want them to support HB 2610.
Send us a stamped, self-addressed business envelope for one of these stickers and put it on your car to help us advertise! (One sticker per envelope. Please allow up to 2 weeks for delivery.)
Medicine to Kansas Patients:

Welcome. This website, a work in progress, is an affiliate of the American Alliance for Medical Cannabis(AAMC) and is being created as a source of information for everyone in Kansas interested in the medical marijuana question. If you would like to help, we provide several tools to make it easier than ever to send messages to your Kansas policy makers. Please use them frequently. Momentum for change has been building very rapidly over this past year. As of 7 Dec 2009, thirteen states have MC programs in place, and at least fourteen more have pending legislation. Now, more than ever before, is the time to push for a medical marijuana program for Kansas patients:
If you do not already know them, find out who your legislators in Topeka are, learn as much as you can about them, and establish a channel of friendly, respectful communication with them. The more they hear from us, the more thoroughly will they understand how serious are the stakes for ill people and their caregivers--who also suffer, standing by helplessly as loved ones endure unrelenting agony because the one medicine that might provide blessed relief is forbidden. Trying to convince our legislators to change the law is one thing, but the general public also must be awakened and informed about the need in our state for this incredible medicine. One powerful means of informing and engaging our fellow citizens is by sending letters or e-mail messages to editors of local and regional newspapers--especially when related topics, such as healthcare, are in the news. Often, the opinion pages are the most-read part of the paper. This is effective, FREE publicity. To simplify the process of sending informative messages we have compiled a clickable list of Kansas newspaper editors. Many limit submissions to 200-250 words, which really is not much writing. Short and to-the-point is best anyway. The important thing is to let it be known that you NEED medical cannabis. Most editors will want to publish a well-written, provocative letter, and will withhold the submitter's identity if asked to do so because of the sensitive nature of the submission. If you have a story to tell but are intimidated by the idea of writing to your representative or a news editor just contact us. We offer ghost-writing and editing services to help you tell your story or make known your desire and support for MC in Kansas. NOTE: At the present time, this network consists of a tiny group of volunteers using our own limited resources to advance medical marijuana in Kansas. We will gladly do what we can with what we have and we do not intend to solicit funds, but if you have time and skills you would like to volunteer we would be overwhelmed with gratitude for your help. If you would like to help, please contact us and make our day! Thank you,
cheryl riley, Voluntary Director

From The Wichita Eagle's Opinion Line Extra 11/02/09:
This question inspired a letter to my representatives in Topeka, which can easily be copied, edited slightly and sent to your own Kansas legislators.
